Adelong Outdoor Education and Evolve Psychotherapy have an established close working partnership with a proven track record in Adventure Therapy.
Adelong Evolve specialises in working with Young People with
- Autistic Spectrum Condition
- Mental Health Problems
- Behavioural Problems
Adelong Evolve understands the importance of building a co-operative and trusting relationship with our clients. Our programmes are built around the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which we integrate into youth work, outdoor adventurous activity and mindfulness.
Adelong Evolve’s Adventure Therapy programmes encourage constructive challenge through the use of outdoor adventurous activity. The safe physical and emotional spaces we create, allow young people to explore different areas of importance and significance within their lives.
Our strong network of fully qualified psychotherapists, outdoor specialists, coaches and youth workers enables the delivery of an Adventure Therapy programme tailored to the individual’s needs.
We guide our young people towards self regulation through challenge, experiential learning, developing social skills and by modelling appropriate behaviour.
A free initial assessment by Evolve Psychotherapy will be arranged with the young person and a parent/carer.
Once the young person shows a willingness to engage, a draft programme is created by Adelong Evolve. The programme will address the young person’s needs and interests.
Adelong Evolve will work with the Young Person to:
- Challenge negative core beliefs about self
- Develop greater Self Esteem
- Increase confidence
- Promote healthy lifestyles and general well-being
With the needs and interests of the young person in mind, we will engage in a combination of:
- Youth Work
- Challenging activities in the outdoors
- Environmental study
- Craft work, art and music
- Academic study
Engagement in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Formal therapy takes place as an integral part of the youth work programme (active CBT) or in a therapy room environment.
Outcomes from CBT are improved if the young person has a trusting relationship with their youth worker & therapist.
During each session, the young person, along with their youth worker will set goals and discuss evalua- tion and feedback.
